CAR

Philadelphia is remarkably easy to get to by car. Just a two-hour drive from New York City and Baltimore, three hours from Washington, D.C., and about an hour from Lancaster County, Atlantic City and the beaches of the New Jersey shore, Philly is the perfect destination for a spontaneous day trip, weekend getaway or much-needed vacation.

Philly is 100 miles south of New York, 133 miles north of Washington, D.C. and 55 miles from Atlantic City.
Philadelphia is served by the PA Turnpike (I-276), I-76, I-476, I-95, US-1 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

TRAIN

Philadelphia is served by Amtrak, which operates rail service along the Northeast Corridor stretching from Boston to Washington, and other major cities in the United States and Canada.

Local train service is provided by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), which also connects to NJ Transit trains in Trenton en route to New York. NJ Transit trains also depart from William H. Gray III 30th Street Station for Atlantic City.

DINING & ACTIVITIES

DINING

Angelo's Pizzeria: This is where to find our favorite Philly cheesesteak of all time! But that's not all- the pizza is top notch (NYC level) and so are the chicken cutlet sandwiches. Please keep in mind, Angelo's is CASH + TAKE OUT only (no seating)! Try calling ahead to skip the long line.
736 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147

Federal Donuts: Amazing donuts! A "hot & fresh" made to order donut is highly recommended. The fried chicken sandwich is great too!
21 S 12th Street or 540 South Street

Barbacoa: Famously featured on Netflix's "Chef's Table," this authentic and unassuming Mexican eatery specializes in traditional slow-cooked barbacoa-style tacos & toppings.
1140 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147

Reading Terminal Market: Incredible food hall in Center City if you are looking for a quick bite to eat.
51 N 12th Street

The Dandelion: A charming British bilevel restaurant. This spot serves craft beers & modern takes on British cuisine in a pubby setting or a Victorian style dining room.
124 S 18th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Zahav: a special Israeli restaurant that brings the flavors of Israel's cultural crossroads to Philadelphia. One of the toughest restaurants to book in Philly, we highly suggest booking at 11am exactly 2 months to the day you plan to dine (keep refreshing on Resy at 11am) Good luck!

El Vez: Margaritas so good you'll forget that you ordered.
121 S 13th Street Philadelphia, PA

Jim's: A Philly staple. Another great option for your classic Philly Cheesesteak (Daniel's first cheesesteak).
400 South St. Philadelphia, PA 19147

D'Emilio's Old World Ice Treats: Italian American sorbetto, gelati's, sundaes and soft-serve ice cream
1928 E. Passyunk Ave. Philadelphia, PA

ACTIVITIES

Penn's Landing: This reclaimed space — which runs the length of Center City along the waterfront — always has something fun going on, including festivals, concerts, beer gardens, yoga, roller-skating and ice-skating.

Chinatown: Megan's first Chinatown. Located in the small, highly walkable Chinatown area — located between Eighth and 11th streets and Vine and Arch streets — the menus offer tastes of Hong Kong, Cantonese, Fujianese, Sichuan and Taiwanese, as well as Korean, Vietnamese, Singaporean, Indonesian, Malaysian and Burmese cultures.

Barnes Foundation: One of the world's greatest collections of impressionist, post-impressionist & modern art.
2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Philadelphia Museum of Art: A chance to do the cliche but timeliness Rocky imitation running up the Art Museum steps (and also see Art).
2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Boathouse Row: Go on a bike, walk or run and enjoy the beautiful sights along the Schuylkill river.

New Hope: Megan and Daniel's favorite town in Bucks County (where Megan grew up.) Home to eclectic shopping, riverside restaurants and cultural attractions, New Hope is a scenic small town located directly adjacent to the Delaware River. There is plenty to see and do on this marvelous Main Street that is about an hour drive from Philadelphia.
